The Classic is a traditional canvas swag that can also be pitched. Sleep in it flat like an old-school bedroll, lift the canvas off your face with a single rope, or put the poles in and turn it into a small shelter with full-length midge mesh. It's the one to choose if you want a traditional swag without giving up insect protection. Designed in Australia for touring and 4WD adventure.
Three ways to set it up
Flat. Roll it out and sleep under the canvas with the head flap to one side. No poles or ropes, so it suits a tent, a shed, a verandah or a swag under the stars on a clear night.
Rope lift. Tie a rope from the head end to your 4WD, a tree or a fence post and the canvas lifts clear of your head and shoulders. Add a second rope at the foot end in rain or cold.
Full setup. Use the two poles with ropes and pegs to lift the canvas off you from head to toe. The spreader bar at the head end gives extra shoulder room.
Insect protection
Full-length midge mesh windows let the air through and keep mozzies and sandflies out, which matters on the coast and around rivers. Zip the canvas over the mesh when the weather turns, or leave it partly open on hot nights.
Size
2100mm L × 900mm W.
Pitched, it's 800mm high at the head end and 350mm at the foot end.
A 70mm mattress
A 70mm Hi-Loft foam mattress is included, so it's ready to sleep in the day it arrives.
Materials
410gsm (12oz) canvas in Stockman Brown, breathable and resistant to rot, mildew and UV.
15oz Hypa-PVC base against damp ground.
Corner peg points to hold it down in strong wind.
Prefer something simpler still? The Original King Single Swag is a pure bedroll with no poles at all.
